Employment Directions - Employment, Training, Recruitment Solutions

Work Experience

Employment Directions is able to offer support for Employers who are interested in supporting the career pathways of potential future employees by hosting a Work Experience placement.  This can be done in a variety of ways tailored to suit the needs of the employer.

Work Experience placements seek to improve jobseeker’s job prospects and competitiveness in the labour market and encourage their involvement with the community. It encourages participants to get involved in activities that will improve their skills and work habits.

By hosting a Work Experience placement you will be supporting the local jobseekers by:

  • Strengthening their work ethic and enhancing their ability to work as a member of a team;
  • Increasing their ability to take directions from a supervisor;
  • Allowing them to work independently, and improve their communication skills.
  • Allowing them to become involved with and provide local community groups and organisations with assistance that is of value to the community.

Community support is a key element in building the skills and self-esteem of jobseekers. You will help a jobseeker gain some experience in a workplace environment so that these objectives can be achieved. You only need to do what any good employer needs to do:

  • Provide supervision
  • Provide meaningful work experiences
  • Provide guidance and direction

Employment Directions is committed to ensuring that host employers are provided with any reasonable assistance necessary to make the work experience a success for both the participant and the host employer. If the participant requires additional training this can be arranged. If you are having problems with a participant you should contact Employment Directions immediately and we will attempt to overcome any problem.
